# Expand filter options by default

✨By default, the Smart Product Filter & Search app collapses all filter options (like “Size” or “Color”) in the sidebar. But you can easily choose which ones you want to expand or keep collapsed when your store loads.

***

### ✅ Step-by-Step Guide

#### ⚡️Step 1 – Open Your Filter Sidebar Settings

1. From your Shopify admin, go to the **Smart Product Filter & Search** app.
2. Navigate to **Filter > Manage Filter**.
3. Click on the filter tree you want to update.

***

#### ⚡️Step 2 – Expand or Collapse Specific Filter Options

1. Scroll down to the list of filter options (like Vendor, Price, Color, etc.).
2. Click on the ✎ button next to the filter option you want to be expanded by default.
3. You’ll see a setting called **“Collapse Filter block”**.
4. **Disable** this setting to make that filter option expanded by default on your store.
5. Leave it **enabled** if you want it collapsed.

#### 🔹Step 3 – Save Your Settings

After making your changes, scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click **Save**.

### 💡 Notes

* Expanded options are great for filters you want customers to see right away.
* Keeping some options collapsed can help your sidebar look cleaner, especially on mobile.
