# Configure a default sorting option

✨Configuring the default sorting in your Shopify store ensures that products appear in a specific order when customers visit a collection. Throughout this guideline, follow these steps to display the newest products as an example:

### 🔹**1. Adjust Collection Sorting in Shopify**

* From your **Shopify admin**, go to **Products** → **Collections**.
* Select the collection you want to modify.
* In the **Sort** dropdown menu, choose **Newest** to arrange products from newest to oldest.

### 🔹**2. Configure the Smart Product Filter & Search App**

* Open the **Smart Product Filter & Search** app.
* Click on **Settings** in the left-hand menu.
* Scroll down to the **Sort By** section.
* In the **Default sort by** dropdown menu, choose **Same current collection sort option**.
* Click **Save** to apply your changes.

* Go to the app's **Dashboard**.
* Click **Sync Now** to update the sorting changes in the app.
