# Enable filter sidebar on search page

By default, your filter sidebar appears on collection pages.

By default, your filter sidebar appears on collection pages. You can also show it on your **search results page**, so shoppers can filter down the products returned by a search the same way they filter a collection. This needs **two conditions** to both be true.

## 1. Turn on the setting

1. In the app, go to **Settings > General**.
2. Turn on **Show filters on search results page**.
3. Click **Save** in the bar at the top of the page.

## 2. Have a filter that applies to the search page

The setting above only takes effect if at least one of your filters is actually targeted at the search page:

1. Open the filter you want to use on search — see [Configure filter sidebar](/filters/configure-filter-sidebar.md).
2. Check **Applies to**:
   * If it already includes **All Collections**, the search page is already covered — no extra step needed.
   * Otherwise (a filter scoped to specific collections, or **All Products**), add **Search Page** to **Applies to** as well.
3. Click **Save** in the bar at the top of the page.

If either condition is missing — the General setting is off, and no filter's **Applies to** includes **All Collections** or **Search Page** — the filter sidebar won't show up on search results.
