# Expand filter options by default

By default, a filter option can start collapsed, requiring a click to see its values.

## What this does

By default, a filter option shows just its label until a shopper clicks it — its values stay hidden until asked for. Turning this on for an option like **Price** or **Size** makes those values visible immediately when the page loads, so shoppers can start filtering without an extra click.

## Steps

1. Open the filter option — see [Configure filter options](/filters/filter-options/configure-filter-options.md).
2. Under **Display options**, turn **off** **Collapse filter by default**.
3. Click **Save** in the bar at the top of the page.

This is set per filter option, so you can expand the ones shoppers use most (like Price or Size) while keeping less-used options collapsed.
