Disable app from theme

You can turn the app's storefront widgets off at any time without losing your filter, search, or recommendation configuration — your settings are kept so you can turn it back on later without reconfig

What this does

Turning the app embed off removes the filter panel, search widget, and recommendation sections from your storefront the moment you save — shoppers browsing your store see it as if the app were never installed, with no leftover widgets, blank panels, or broken layout.

Nothing about your setup is lost: every filter attribute, search rule, translation, and recommendation configuration you've built stays saved in the app. Turn the embed back on later and everything reappears exactly as you left it — you don't have to reconfigure filters or search from scratch.

This makes it safe to disable temporarily — for example, while testing a new theme, troubleshooting a display issue, or comparing storefront performance with and without the widgets — since disabling is instant and fully reversible from the same Theme Editor screen.

Turn off the app on a specific theme

1. In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

2. Click Customize on the theme you want to change.

3. Click the app embeds icon in the top toolbar (a small grid icon).

4. Turn the toggle off for "Smart Product Filter & Search".

5. Click Save.

Repeat this for each theme where the app is enabled (live theme and any draft/duplicate themes).

Uninstalling the app entirely

Turning off the app embed hides the storefront widgets but keeps the app installed and your configuration saved. If you want to remove the app completely:

1. In Shopify Admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.

2. Find Smart Product Filter & Search and click Delete.

Note

Disabling or uninstalling the app removes the filter panel, search widget, and recommendation sections from your storefront, but does not change your Shopify products, collections, or metafields in any way.
