# Permissions & data

## Shopify permissions

When you install, Shopify asks you to approve these permissions — here's what each one is actually for:

| Permission | Why the app needs it |
| ---------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **View and edit products** | Power the product picker and title-pattern detection, and attach each group's display data to its products. Your titles, prices, variants, and inventory are never changed. |
| **View themes** | Detect whether the app embed and blocks are active, and recognize your theme to match its layout. |
| **View store languages** | List your storefront languages for [translations](/globo-combined-listings/product-groups/translations.md). |
| **Manage files** | Publish the storefront data file and store custom swatch images you upload. |
| **Manage metaobjects** | Store each group's data so your theme can render it instantly. |
| **Manage pixels & view customer events** | Run the lightweight analytics pixel that powers engagement tracking. |
| **Read product listings** | Let the storefront widget show live prices and availability. |

{% hint style="info" %}
If an app update adds a permission, Shopify asks you to re-approve on your next visit — a standard, one-click step. Nothing changes until you approve.

## What the app stores

* Your groups, options, values, styles, and settings.
* Basic shop metadata (store name, email, plan, languages) to run the app and send lifecycle emails.
* Aggregated, anonymous engagement counters — impressions and clicks per group/surface. No personal shopper data is stored.

Full details are in Globo's [Privacy Policy](https://globo.io/privacy-policy/) and [Terms of Service](https://globo.io/terms-of-service/).

## Data retention

<figure><img src="/files/gAptaLYl964Siv0KiFKW" alt="Timeline: on uninstall widgets stop, data is kept 30 days for reinstall, then permanently deleted"><figcaption><p>Reinstall within 30 days and your groups, styles, and settings come back exactly as they were.</p></figcaption></figure>

* **On uninstall** — storefront widgets stop immediately (Shopify revokes the app). Your configuration is retained for **30 days**.
* **Reinstall within 30 days** — groups, styles, and settings come back automatically.
* **After 30 days** — all shop data is permanently deleted from the app's systems.

## Emails

The app sends a few lifecycle emails to the store's contact address: a welcome on first install, a one-time reminder if no group exists after \~24 hours, and a feedback request after uninstalling. That's all — no marketing lists.

## Billing

The app is free and contains **no billing integration** — it will never create a charge on your Shopify invoice.
