You can choose how customers pay for their pre-order items by configuring Full Payment or Partial Payment in the Pre-order profile. Discounts can also be applied to both payment types.

1. Full Payment

How to Set up

  • From the Pre-Order section → Select a preorder offer you would like to configure the payment & discount.

  • Enable the Full payment option.

(Optional) Add a discount:

  • By amount (e.g., $10 off), or

  • By percentage (e.g., 15% off).

Click Save to apply changes.

How it works

  • Customers will pay the entire order amount at checkout.

  • If a discount is applied, it will be automatically deducted from the order total

2. Partial Payment

How to Set up

From the Pre-order profile, go to Payment options and discounts.

  • Enable Partial Payment option.

Set up the prepaid amount/percentage (e.g., 20% upfront).

(Optional) Add a discount (amount or percentage).

  • By amount (e.g., $10 off), or

  • By percentage (e.g., 15% off).

Set when to collect the remaining balance:

  • On a specific date, or

  • After X days from checkout.

Click Save to apply changes.

How it works

  • Customers pay the prepaid amount you set during checkout.

  • The remaining balance will be collected based on the model you use. You can read more about 2 models here.

1. Shopify Selling Plan Model

  • The remaining balance is collected automatically on the date you set.

  • The customer’s card (saved during the first payment) will be charged.

2. Legacy Model

  • The remaining balance can be collected manually or automatically:

    • Manual: Send a Reminder Email prompting the customer to pay the balance.

    • Automatic:

      • Go to Settings > Pre-order > Partial payment reminder > Edit template.

      • Select “Send automatically to customers to remind them to complete their pre-order payment.”

      • Options:

        • Send emails manually

        • Send after X days

        • Send on a specific date and time


Show payment options and discount on collection page

By default, these payment options will be displayed on the product page.

For the collection page, to optimize UI/UX, we have provided a setting to enable/disable it.

Steps as follows:

  • Go to Pre-order -> Choose Appearance tab

  • Open the Product list tab -> Pre-order messages and payment options -> Show payment option(s)
