# Hand-pick product recommendations

Override automatic recommendations for a specific product by hand-picking its complementary and related products.

## What this does

Overrides what would otherwise be automatically recommended for a specific product, by letting you choose exactly which products appear as its "complementary" and "related" picks — for example, pairing a phone's product page with a specific phone case as a complementary product, or pointing to specific alternative phone models as related products, instead of leaving the pairing to automatic logic. This feeds the **Hand-picked related products** widget — see [Add recommendation widgets](/recommendations/add-recommendation-widgets.md).

## Add recommendations for a product

1. In the app, go to **Recommendations > Manual recommendations**.
2. Click a product to edit it, or add a new one by selecting a source product.
3. Under **Complementary products**, add up to 10 products — typically items that pair with the source product (e.g. a phone case for a phone). Reorder by dragging.
4. Under **Related products**, add up to 10 products — typically alternatives or similar items. Reorder by dragging.
5. Optionally check **Apply this recommendation to all products in the list**, to reuse the same set as a cross-sell group across multiple products at once.
6. Click **Save**.

## Manage existing recommendations

The **Manual recommendations** list shows every product with recommendations configured, along with its complementary/related product counts. Search, edit, or bulk-delete entries from this list.

## Bulk import/export via spreadsheet

Use **Export** to download all current manual recommendations as a spreadsheet, and **Import** to upload changes in bulk — one row per source product, with related and complementary products listed per row.
