# Show swatches on collection pages

Turn swatches on for product cards, and keep the cards from getting crowded.

Swatches on collection pages are off by default — every option starts at **Do not show (Default)**. Turn them on for the options that help shoppers choose, and leave the rest hidden so product cards stay readable.

## Turn on an option

1. Go to **Options** and open the **Collection page** tab.
2. Find the option and set **Display on Desktop** to a style — or to **Same as Product page** to mirror what you already chose there.
3. Set **Display on Mobile**, or leave it on **Same as Desktop**.
4. Click **Save**.

## Hide an option again

Set **Display on Desktop** back to **Do not show (Default)**. The picker confirms it: swatches will not be shown on collection page.

A typical setup shows **Color** on collection pages and hides **Size**, **Material** and anything else — shoppers pick a colour from the grid and choose the rest on the product page.

## Keep cards tidy

Products with many values can overflow a product card. Two settings help, both in **Settings → Swatch on Collection Page**:

* **Limit Swatches** — hide extra swatches and show a "More" button, with separate limits for **Limit on desktop** and **Limit on mobile**.
* The **Carousel** toggle in each style's **Appearance** settings puts the swatches on a single scrollable line instead of wrapping.

See [Swatch on collection page](/swatch/settings/swatch-on-collection-page.md).

## Make the card update when a swatch is clicked

By default a swatch on a product card only marks the selection. Turn on **Dynamic Swatch** in **Settings → Swatch on Collection Page** and the card's image, price and link update instantly to the chosen variant.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Hiding an option on collection pages while other options stay visible can make a product look sold out when it isn't: the card works out availability from the first value of the hidden option. If a product shows as unavailable on a collection page but not on its product page, check which options you've hidden.
{% endhint %}
