Import product groups by CSV

Create many groups at once from a spreadsheet.

Building dozens of groups by hand is slow. The importer creates and updates them from a single file.

Import

  1. Go to Product Groups and click Import CSV.

  2. Click Download sample CSV and use it as your template — it shows exactly which columns the importer expects.

  3. Fill it in, drop it into CSV file, and click Import.

Start from Download sample CSV so your columns match what the importer expects.

Watching the import

Imports run in the background, so you can leave the window open and watch:

  • Status — where the import is up to.

  • Rows and Groups — how much has been processed.

  • Created, Updated, Skipped groups and Missing handles.

When it finishes you get a summary of what was created, updated and skipped. If any rows had problems, an Import warnings panel lists them by row number.

Things to watch

  • Products are matched by their Shopify handle. Missing handles means a row referenced a handle that doesn't exist in your store — check for typos or unpublished products.

  • Only one import can run at a time. If one is already going, the app asks you to wait for it to finish.

  • Re-uploading an identical file is rejected: update the file before importing it again.
