Textarea

A multi-line field for gift messages and instructions, with the same settings as Text plus alignment, width, and height in the live preview.

Use it when the answer is a sentence or longer, such as a gift message, care instructions, a description of a repair, or a brief for a custom piece.

What customers see

A taller field that accepts several lines, with your label above it and an optional character counter below.

A textarea gives customers room for a real message.

Textarea has exactly the same settings as Text, on both tabs:

Personalizer

Text and Textarea behave differently in the live preview, because Text is a single line and Textarea is a block.

A Textarea layer is a block that you size and align, and the customer's lines wrap inside it. A Text layer is a single line that you can bend along a curve.

Add-on pricing

Add-on pricing works the same way as on Text, including the Per character mode. Customers usually enter more text in a Textarea, so a per-character charge can become large. Set a Max character value to limit it.

For a gift message, use no charge or a single flat fee. See Advanced add-on modes.

Notes

• Available on all plans.

• Works in Shopify POS.

• Line breaks are preserved and travel through to the order.

• A long entry is accepted on the order but may not fit your printing area. Set Max character to what you can produce.

• Allowed value and Text transform apply to the whole entry, including across line breaks.
