Overview

Use your option sets when you take an order in person through the Shopify POS app.

The option sets you built for your storefront can also be used at the counter. A staff member adds a product to the POS cart, opens the app, completes the options, and the cart is updated with the customer's choices and any add-ons.

Shopify POS is Shopify's own app for selling in person. It takes cash, credit and debit cards, and gift cards, and it runs either on its own or alongside your online store, with both sets of orders in one Shopify admin. This app adds your option sets to that counter flow, so an in-person order carries the same personalization details as an online one.

What it is for

  • Taking a personalized order in a shop or at a market

  • Adding a paid extra to an in-person sale

  • Recording production details for something made to order

  • Keeping in-person and online orders consistent, using one set of options

Before you use it

Check these three things first.

1

Your plan includes POS

Point of Sale may not be available on all plans. See Compare plans.

2

The option set is published to Point of Sale

Each option set has its own Sales channels setting. Select Point of Sale. See Activate and publish.

3

Your options are POS-compatible

Two option types and one add-on mode do not work in POS. Read POS limitations before you build anything for POS.
