Shared settings

Every setting that appears on more than one option type, explained once and linked from everywhere.

Most settings are shared across multiple option types. Required field, for example, works the same way on a text box and a dropdown. Column width works the same way across all thirty types that support it.

Instead of repeating the same explanations across dozens of pages, we document them here. The individual option type pages tell you which settings a type supports; these pages explain what each setting does.

Which tab is a setting on

Each option’s settings are split across tabs. Knowing which tab a setting is on makes it easier to find what you need.

Tab	Holds

Many settings appear only when another setting enables them. Scroll height, for example, appears only after you choose a scroll type. Quantity appears only with two advanced add-on modes, and Prefix icon appears only when Prefix is set to Icon.

Notation used on these pages

Each setting is documented using the same three details before its explanation:

• Tab — whether the setting is on the Basic tab or Advanced.

• Default — the value a new option starts with.

• Available on — the option types that support the setting. When a setting is available on most types, we list the types that do not support it instead, because that is shorter and more useful.
