How to Limit Pre-sale Quantity
You can limit the number of pre-orders by setting a stock limit. Once the product reaches this limit, pre-orders will automatically stop.
From the Pre-order tab, go to Pre-order Profiles.
In the Limit Stock field, enter the maximum number of pre-orders allowed
Save your changes.
When you set a Limit Stock for pre-orders, the value (positive or negative) depends on the condition you choose:
Always Show
Pre-order is always available, no matter the stock.
You can set the limit as either a positive number (e.g., 50) or a negative number (e.g., -50).
Example: If you set 50, customers can only pre-order up to 50 items. If you set -50, customers can pre-order 50 items even when stock is already below zero.
Stock is 0 or less
Pre-order works only when the product is out of stock (0) or oversold (negative stock).
In this case, the limit must be a negative number.
Example: If you set -20, customers can pre-order up to 20 items after the stock goes below zero.
Stock is greater than 0
Pre-order works only when the product still has stock available (more than 0).
In this case, the limit must be a positive number.
Example: If you set 30, customers can only pre-order 30 items while the stock is above 0.
